Biography
Born in Zimbabwe to an American science fiction writer and a European theologian, Esther Löwe moved to Germany alone at 11, destined to become the next Anne-Sophie Mutter. However, setting foot on the set of a Werner Herzog film as a teenager shifted her path from music to studying sound at the Film University in Potsdam-Babelsberg, where she discovered her passion for writing and directing.
Since directing her first short film, Esther has created award-winning short films, commercials, and music videos showcased globally. She has worked in advertising as a dramaturgical consultant, scriptwriter, and copywriter, penning over 250 scripts, and served as an Assistant Director on TV and advertising productions.
Esther Löwe most recently wrote her debut film script, a novel adaptation, for Lago Film and Zephyr Films. Her first TV series as co-creator and co-writer is in development with OLGA Film and she is developing her debut feature as writer-director with Odeon Fiction.
Esther Löwe lives in Berlin.
