Biography

Judith Angerbauer gained her first experience as an assistant producer and assistant director (among other things) in the theater, from where her path led her to film. Her first short film COVER was shown at film festivals all over the world and was awarded the “Prädikat Wertvoll”. Together with Matthias Glasner, she wrote the screenplay for the feature film DER FREIE WILLE with Jürgen Vogel and Sabine Timoteo. The film premiered in competition at the Berlinale 2006 and won several awards. This was followed by some TATORT episodes, in which she worked with directors Edward Berger and Lars Kraume, among others.
Together with Lars Kraume, she also made the mini-series DIE NEUE ZEIT about Bauhaus in 2019, with Anna Maria Mühe and August Diehl in the leading roles. In 2014 Judith Angerbauer took part in the Torinofilmlab. The screenplay for MARET was written in collaboration with Luxembourgish director Laura Schroeder. The film starring Susanne Wolff premiered at the Luxembourg Film Festival in 2023. From 2019-21 Judith Angerbauer worked for the international series department of Bavaria Fiction and wrote scripts for DAS BOOT and was head writer for the ZDFneo series WAS WIR FÜRCHTEN. Her feature film directorial debut SABBATICAL, starring Seyneb Saleh, Trystan Pütter and Sebastian Urzendowsky, celebrated its world premiere at the Munich Film Festival in 2024 and its international premiere at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
Judith Angerbauer is currently developing another film as a director: MY HEART IS IN THE HIGHLANDS. The screenplay for it, also by her, was funded by the FFF Bayern in 2023.
